| Comments:Phillip, I have a few comments regarding what you are TRYing to put across. First of all, you are equating yourself/humanity to an animal. Is your belief based on the theory of evolution, or is it based on religion. If, its the former, then which came first, the chicken or the egg. If, its the later, then "IN THE BEGINNING" man was vegetarian, where Adam and Eve lived with animal which later came to be know as wild. As one of the writers in this forum put it, that, each civilization has its own culture, and as time goes by, dilution sets in, and certian acts/rituals, unacceptable by all, comes to a stop. This is a process and cant stop overnight.
So, please stop being naive and snobbish about other cultures and start accepting things in a broader sense. Its always not hard for people to point out flaws/faults in any culture.
BTW, I am no Korean or Aussie. I am looking at things from an un-biased perspective.

| Comments:Unless a person is vegan or vegetarian, how can a person complain about other cultures eating dogs? Is it not equally sickening to Asian Indians when Westerners eat beef? Well, some people keep fish as pets, should everyone not be eating fish either?

| Comments:There are certain parties who profit from the way things are. $21b is collected from the Australian taxpayer each year for schooling. Under the present funding system, the vast majority of this goes into the state-school sector (call it 100% per student). All other sectors receive less per student. The Catholic sector receives about 70% per student. The Independent schools on average 35% per student.
A lot of people can live well by creaming off millions from those billions, people who dwell within the hierarchy which controls the state school system.

| Comments:Dear Moonhuskygirl,
Cannibalism is eating your own kind. We are talking about one species eating another. We've been doing it for thousands of years. Lions eat deer, dogs eat rabbits, poeple eat pigs, etc, etc etc. If it is barbaric to eat dogs, why is it not barbaric to eat pigs or cows or sheep or horses or goats? If you say that eating any of these animals is barbaric, then you are being a hard-case vegetarian. If you're not taking that position, then you have to give me a reason why dogs are different from other creatures.

| Comments:Let's see, does that mean we shouldn't condem cannibals (belief of eating the enemy empowers oneself and no "harm" done, headhunters, mutilatation of genatalia and other "traditional practices of different civilizations? POINT is there are many horrific traditions from the past that have finally been put to rest because we are not beasts but people with a supposed conscience and awraeness in living among other creatures not conquering them. Ironic that we and other nations are trying to help Korea move into the future, help with progression, education and ecomony and yet dog eating is still acceptable?
BTW I have some Korean heritage and this disgusts me.

| Comments:When I was at uni my head was filled with talk of left wing and right wing. But I could not help noticing that when one such faction gained complete power, the style of government was exactly the same. A cruel and self-serving bureaucracy, a new party-based aristocracy, secret police, intimidation, imprisonment without trial and worse. Then I realised that the elaborate theories and jargon of each ideology - left or right - merely camouflaged the desire of one group or another to take control of other peoples lives. Bullying power was after all the ultimate aim of political extremists of every colour.
