Misery Makers

There are people whose day-to-day business is bringing happiness to their fellow humans – in one way or another. But sadly, it has to be said, there are people who go about spreading misery. A classic example is of course the mindless bureaucrat who inflicts frustrating regulations even when no good purpose is being served – the sort who can only justify their clumsy controls by saying “regulations are regulations”.
But these are not the only ones. I manage six properties and have employed over time dozens of tradesmen, mostly very good. But there is one type, it seems about one in six, who whinge about every aspect of the job and who compulsively rubbish everything about your house. I imagine this dreadful practice has evolved from trying to score extra jobs.
They do not seem to care that they – daily – leave what were happy homeowners depressed about the many (grossly exaggerated) “faults” in their pride and joy. These people are a menace to public well-being.
