Mullah's Aims

What are the ultimate aims of those mullahs that encourage the suicide bombers? I have heard some pretty fancy conspiracy theories about what America is doing in the Middle East. But it is even more challenging to work out the motives of "the mad bombers".
What have they achieved so far? In response to September 11, the US invaded Afghanistan and liberated its people from a cruel theocracy. Similarly Iraq has been liberated from a cruel thugocracy.
Perhaps the bombers hope that if they continue terrorising westerners, eventually the whole Middle East will receive the benefits of American invasion!
