Meaningfulness
To The Australian Wednesday, August 15, 2007
An interesting point about the meaningfulness of unverifiable belief is raised by J Reeve (Letters, 15 August). He asks how you could prove the Prime Minister's claim that interest rates would always be higher under a Labor government? Reeve says the claim is unprovable therefore "meaningless". But that can't be right - for the simple reason that we know it may well be true! Back to the drawing board on verification theories of truth.
