Think Global with Nuclear
Monday, May 02, 2005
As an environmentalist, I totally support Bob Hawke's call for an enquiry into Australia's suitability for nuclear waste storage.
If we are going to sell uranium, and if it turns out that Australia has the most stable dry, accessible, underground storage potential, then we should help save the planet in a way that we uniquely can.
The disposal service should be neither a profiteering nor bankrupting exercise. We should charge just what it takes to get the stuff here and bury it safely.
It is the perfect application of our long stated slogan: think globally and act locally.
